It was one of those days where we packed in everything we could and just hoped that naps would happen if needed.
Aunt Ninny and Uncle Chris drove in from Pittsburgh on Friday night because of a tip from Ava of the pending Halloween parade on Saturday. And she and her good buddy Drew, were planning on dawning their elusive costumes.
Neither one a big fan of dressing up in the past. The parents were skepitcal.
But first the morning agenda.
We headed to Horse Valley so Aunt Ninny and Uncle Chris could see the progress on the family compound. Uncle Chris was slightly disappointed that in the seven years he had known Ninny, this was the first time he had been there. This could have been his LSAT oasis. Ninny claims this was part of her dowry, he just didn't read the fine print.
We took a walk up one of the trails Papa carved out with Bobby and the foliage was beautiful. Ninny carried Ava (uphill) and got the butt workout of a lifetime.
After everyone had their fill of the unpolluted fresh air, we headed for Shippensburg for a Penn State party at Colby & Chay's house.
The kids got to play. The adults got to play.
Ava and Drew spent most of the afternoon shooting pool and playing the slot machine. I figure its an early lesson in Physics and Statistics. Pop would be proud.

And then someone suggested we play Guitar Hero. If you haven't played, you need to. And if you have, you know it's addictive. Just ask Ninny.

After a great afternoon at Drew's house we headed to the parade.
Ava and Drew did get costumed up, much to our surprise. The bribe of candy flooding the streets apparently worked.
Max went as himself and had the best time, even though he was hours past his bedtime. Uncle Chris and Max were best buds this weekend...again. Max must have known that the best seat for a parade was with his 6'5 uncle.
And as the parade route cleared out, so did we. Back down the highway to recoup from our marathon Saturday with a jack-0-lantern full of sugar.

Sounds like you guys had a good weekend! Ava makes a beautiful flower! Hopefully everyone is off of their sugar high by now!
